Lack of transportation can be a barrier to participating in various leisure activities. With support from Sparebanken Møre and using the Nimmo platform, the Ålesund Sports Council and Ålesund municipality will establish a transportation service that makes it easier for children and young people to participate in organized activities.
The project stems from the local community school project in Aspøy, where the goal is to strengthen the school as a vibrant and inclusive meeting place in the local community, also outside regular school hours.
One of the initiatives is to encourage and facilitate participation in both organized and unorganized leisure activities.
To make it easier for children and young people to participate, two different transportation services will be established as part of the project.
On Wednesdays, there will be transportation to and from the sports after-school program (IFO) at Osane sports hall. This will be available for students at Aspøy and Hessa schools.
On Thursdays, an afternoon route will pick up children from several schools and then drive them to various activity locations around Ålesund.
The Nimmo platform is used to organize and plan the routes, and everyone who will use the transportation must book their trip in the Nimmo app.
We look forward to a new project in our local area and are incredibly proud and happy that Nimmo can help more children and young people participate in activities!
